Lección 1: Review of tenses and structures
In this class, you will review all previously learned tenses and structures, including the present simple, past simple, past progressive, present perfect, present perfect continuous, past perfect, future tenses, conditionals, and the passive voice. You will improve your use of these through conversational practice.
Lección 2: The third conditional
In this class, you will learn how to form and use the third conditional (if + past perfect, would have + past participle) to talk about imaginary past situations and their imaginary consequences. You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 3: Wish and if only
In this class, you will learn how to use wish and if only with the past simple (for present wishes) and with the past perfect (for past regrets). You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 4: Reported speech
In this class, you will learn how to use reported speech (indirect speech) to tell someone what another person said, including tense shifts and changes in pronouns and time expressions. You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 5: Modal verbs for past speculation
In this class, you will learn how to use must have, might have, may have, could have, and should have with past participles to speculate about past events. You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 6: Used to / be used to / get used to
In this class, you will learn the difference between used to (past habits), be used to (being accustomed to), and get used to (becoming accustomed to). You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 7: Question tags
In this class, you will learn how to form and use question tags (short questions at the end of a sentence) in English. You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 8: Linking words and discourse markers
In this class, you will learn how to use linking words and discourse markers for addition, contrast, cause, result, and sequencing to improve your writing and speaking. You will also practice your speaking skills through conversational practice.
Lección 9: Review
In this class, we will review the third conditional, wish/if only, reported speech, modal verbs for past speculation, used to/be used to/get used to, question tags, and linking words. You will also write an opinion article.
Lección 10: Review + the English subjunctive
In this class, we will review the third conditional, wish/if only, reported speech, modal verbs for past speculation, used to/be used to/get used to, question tags, and linking words. You will also learn about the English subjunctive, including the mandative subjunctive and other subjunctive forms, and how it compares to the much more extensive Spanish subjunctive.
