The Fortune Teller
Last summer, my friend Ana and I were walking through[1] a market in Granada when we saw a small tent[2] with a sign that said "Madame Luna — I will tell you your future." Ana laughed and said, "Let's go in!" I didn't want to, but she pulled[3] me inside.
The tent was dark. There were candles[4] everywhere. An old woman with silver[5] hair was sitting behind a small table. On the table there was a glass ball.[6]
"Sit down," she said. "I will look into your future."
She looked at Ana first. She closed her eyes and said, "You will move to a different country. You will live near the sea. You will learn a new language, and you will fall in love with someone you haven't met yet."
Ana looked at me and smiled. "I hope[7] it's true," she whispered.[8]
Then Madame Luna looked at me. "Your future is more complicated," she said. "You will have to make a very difficult decision.[9] Two paths[10] will appear in front of you. One path will be safe[11] and comfortable. The other will be uncertain,[12] but it will make you happy. You will choose the uncertain path, and you won't regret[13] it."
"What kind of decision?" I asked.
"I can't tell you that," she said. "But you will know when the moment comes. Trust[14] yourself."
We left the tent and laughed about it all afternoon. "She'll probably say the same thing to the next person," Ana said.
But here is the strange[15] part. Six months later, Ana moved to Lisbon. She is now learning Portuguese. And last month, I received two job offers: one at a big company with a high salary,[16] and one at a small school in the mountains with almost no money. I thought about Madame Luna. And I chose the school.
I'll start next Monday. I think I'll love it.

Releer parece una actividad productiva, pero no es el método más eficaz. Es mejor cerrar la página e intentar recordar lo que acabas de estudiar. El esfuerzo de reconstruir el material de memoria favorece la retención a largo plazo.
